Let’s make a quick and delicious spaghetti that everyone will love

Spaghetti is one of those dishes that everyone loves. And even better when the kids finish their whole plate. Thanks to tik-tok, this recipe takes the “normal recipe” of boil noodles, add a Marinara sauce, heat in an pot and serve to a whole new level.

Being limited on time, most often it is impractical to make a Marinara sauce from scratch. We usually opt for a store bought option, but we try to be as reasonably healthy as possible with our decision. We usually try to use Rayo’s Marinara Sauce.

Noodles are equally as important as the Marinara Sauce. We try to be as healthy as possible with our Spaghetti Noodes as possible. Our go to noodles are Garofalo Organic Authentic Italian noodles and Barilla Protein + noodles.

Sausage is one of those ingredients that are not a “healthy” option, however it tastes soooooo good in this dish. We opt for a hot link with organic ingredients if possible

All other ingredients vary by availability and preference.

This dish is sure to have the family raving and is one that you will easily make a staple in your menu.

How do you make spaghetti sauce thicker?

One of the big questions seen in comments was how to make spaghetti sauce thicker. This is by far the best method:

Thicken the sauce by reducing liquids. After step 8, when your sauce is mixed with the other ingredients, reduce heat to medium and continue to cook until the sauce is the consistency you want. You can test with a spoon.

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz Spaghetti Noodles
  • 22 oz Ground Beef
  • 36 oz Marinara Sauce
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
  • ½ Onion
  • 3 Sausages (recommend mild to medium heat hot link style sausage)
  • ½ cup or to taste Parmigiano Reggiano
  • Spices and Oil
  • Cooking Oil (as necessary, only used to cook ingredients)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)

Prep:

  • Dice Onions
  • Mince Garlic
  • Sausage
  • Optional – Remove Casings from sausage
  • Cut into halves lengthwise
  • Cut each halve horizontally into about 10 sections (less if you want smaller pieces)
  • Heat oil to medium heat in pan
  • If you are using a stainless steel pan for the first time, check out this post for tips.

Cooking:

MEAT SAUCE

  1. Brown your onions
  2. When onions are brown, add garlic and sauté until fragrant
  3. REMOVE ONIONS AND SET ASIDE
  4. Brown ground beef, season to taste
  5. REMOVE BEEF AND SET ASIDE
  6. Cook sausage pieces in pan to recommended done temp on package
  7. Add cooked ground beef, onion, and garlic to pan and mix with sausage
  8. Add Marinara sauce
  9. Thoroughly mix and remove from heat

NOODLES

  1. Follow package instructions for recommended amount of water
  2. Add salt to water and bring to a boil
  3. Add noodles to boiling water until al dente
  4. When noodles are al dente, retain approx. 1 cup of pasta water
  5. DO NOT RINSE NOODLES
  6. Strain and return noodles to pot

ADDING IT ALL TOGETHER

  1. Turn on low heat
  2. Add meat sauce to noodles and thoroughly mix
  3. Slowly add 1/2 cup pasta water to mixture while stirring
  4. The pasta water will loosen up the sauce, however it will let it adhere to the noodles more evenly
  5. Add remaining pasta sauce
  • OPTIONAL: Add 1/3 cup of Parmigiano Reggiano to spaghetti while mixing
  • NOTES: If you are making this to serve multiple times through the day a nice tip is to only add enough noodles to the sauce mixture as you need at that time…make sure to adjust your pasta water to account for the amount of noodles you are cooking at a time

ENJOY!
